Xinzhong Yao

Xinzhong Yao a native of China and an expert in Confucianism, is professor of religion and ethics; associate director of the Alister Hardy Religious Experience Research Centre, and director of the Centre for Chinese Studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He has been a visiting fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge University; Wolfson College, Oxford University; and St. David’s University College, University of Wales; a visiting scholar at St. John’s College, Oxford University, and a visiting professor at the Academy of Moral Sciences at the People’s University of China in Beijing where he later taught as an assistant professor of philosophy and then as a lecturer in ethics. He is currently at Oxford University leading a four-year project funded by the Templeton Foundation comparing Chinese religious experience with Western religious experience. His publications include numerous articles and book chapters as well as three books: An Introduction to Confucianism; Confucianism and Christianity and the Encyclopedia of Confucianism.
