Phyllis Herman
Professor Phyllis Herman is assistant professor of religious studies at California State University, Northridge, and a specialist in Hinduism and feminist studies. Her research focuses on women in India, particularly on the figure of Sita, and religion and violence in South Asia. She has played a key role in establishing South Asian studies at her university, and currently directs the Southern California Seminar on South Asia.
